ALLOY WHEEL REFURBISHMENT AND COLOUR CHANGE SERVICE
Alloy wheels are the finishing touch to any car, but they can easily become damaged, chipped or kerbed, causing unsightly scrapes and gouges. A new set of alloys could set you back hundreds of pounds; however alloy wheel refurbishment starts at only £40 per wheel, depending on the size, type of wheel and the extent of the damage. A full set can be fully restored in under a day at your home or place of work. Alternatively, you can drop your car off and collect later on that day.
We also specialise in alloy wheel colour changes, and stock or can access a wide range of colours, including metallic and 'speckle' tones. If you want to change your black wheels to silver, or vice versa, this too can be achieved to a high standard. If you'd like more information, please feel free to contact us for a quote.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A REPAIR?
Some people will ask why a wheel repair costs, on average, £50 per wheel. Can't we just 'touch up' the repair in a couple of minutes? The answer depends on what type of repair you expect and an understanding of how alloy wheels are constructed. As most alloy wheels are made from one piece of metal, the best way to restore damage is to grind the damage out, whilst maintaining the integrity and smooth contoured shape of the wheel. To do this, the car will have to be jacked up and the whole wheel removed. The tyre will then be deflated and the wheel placed in a bead breaker machine, in order to push the tyre away from the wheel. Whilst some technicians will attempt to save time by completing the job without breaking the bead, they will not be able to reach the entire wheel area in order to ensure a uniform finish and repair 100% of the damage. Further, there is an increased risk that the tyre might become damaged if it is accidentally snagged by a grinder.
When a technician has full access to the wheel, it will be thoroughly cleaned and de-greased, before the damaged areas are identified and gently grinded out. In the event of deep welts and gouges, a wheel filler may be used to ensure that the wheels are not over-sanded. The wheel is then degreased and cleaned again, before the tyre is masked up and primered. The colour of the original wheel is matched and a custom paint is mixed before being sprayed over the wheel. After the paint has been dried with a heat gun, the whole wheel is then sprayed with a high quality lacquer before being cured under heat lamps. The tyre is then re-inflated before the wheel is then put back on the car, the tyre dressed with a high-gloss tyre shine and the wheel torqued back to the manufacturer's specification. Balancing is not affected during this type of repair.
